AWS at Scale #8: Pick a primary Cloud platform and absolutely nail it.

Use this capability to understand other Clouds (and tech stacks), but always stick with your primary.

Here's why it works:

✅ Builds rare, credible and highly valuable skills over time.
✅ Helps develop a craftsperson mindset.
✅ Builds incredible career capital.
✅ When you're very, very good at something, you feel good.
✅ Helps to push your limits, but in a more focused way.

This is how that looks for me right now:

➡️ I've always stuck with AWS as a primary (it was the only show in town when I started)
➡️ All the concepts apply everywhere else.
➡️ If you're doing cloud at scale, alt clouds are introduced through M&A, that's never going to change.
➡️ Primary clouds don't always have a presence in your required regions, another route in for alt clouds.
➡️ Some workloads are just better in alt clouds, MS are nailing SaaS as always.
